On Tuesday, Star Wars: Force for Change and First partnered up to launch the Build My Droid contest, in which fans could have the chance for their very own creation to be included in a future Star Wars project and attend the world premiere of Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker in December. In 1977, today’s Star Wars logo was redesigned, and it has stayed the same ever since. Now, diehard fans of the Disney franchise have been invited to build their very own droid for the Star Wars universe. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, there was a lot of unicase type going around, but it fell. When Droid was created in 1996, unicase fonts had just come back in style. One of Lucasfilm‘s most notable contributions is the number of personable droids featured in films, games and TV series across the Star Wars universe, including the much-beloved C-3PO and R2-D2 and the more recent BB-8. Unicase fonts are sometimes referred to as bicameral or mixed-case-a blend of capital and lowercase forms, all set to the same height. The Star Wars logo lettering is very similar to a font named Star Jedi created by Boba Fonts and you can download it for free here. The film series made such great success that it is the third highest grossing film series behind only Harry Potter and James Bond films as of 2011.
